- With a phone call and a retainer, Diebold CEO Walden O'Dell has launched former Democratic National Committee chairman Joe Andrew on a 50-state ambassadorship for electronic voting. - The story detailed reports from various county elections boards around the state that Diebold representatives used pressure tactics and offers of money to try to induce the boards to choose Diebold to provide their new legally mandated voting systems.
- A company whose touch-screen voting machines won state certification in Missouri last month has been raising money through stock placements that found their way to unlicensed securities "boiler rooms" in Europe.
- Ohio's Blackwell received over $40 million in Federal funds to ensure all Ohioans could vote in November 2004 election. Instead, he sat on over $30 million and diverted the money he spent to friends and businesses owned by top GOP contributors. He even parked the money in a bank run by a top Republican businessman.
- New Data Shows Widespread Vote Manipulations in 2004
- As more and more crimes, especially drug offenses, have been defined as felonies during decades of "tough on crime" rhetoric and populist politicking, the number of felony convictions is increasing. Until this year, a half-dozen states—mainly in the South-permanently disenfranchised people with felony convictions. There have been some victories-like when Nebraska and Iowa jettisoned their permanent disenfranchisement laws earlier this year. But in the United States today, 48 out of 50 states still deny voting rights to people based on conviction status. Maine and Vermont stand alone as never denying ballot access based on felony status.
- The Republican Party has -- barely -- snatched another election in Ohio. And once again there are telltale symptoms of the kind of vote theft that put George W. Bush in the White House in 2000 and then kept him there in 2004.
- A Technical Report published by BlackBoxVoting.org (4 Jul 2005) details
multiple critical security vulnerabilities in the Diebold Optical Scan
voting equipment that was used to tally approximately 25 million votes in
the 2004 US election.
- New charges filed against Ohio Governor Bob Taft's former top aide have blazed a new trail between "Coingate" and the GOP theft of the 2004 presidential election.
- Jim March, a member of the Black Box Voting board of directors, was arrested Tuesday evening for trying to observe the Diebold central tabulator (vote tallying machine) as the votes were being counted in San Diego's mayoral election.
- Most of the VoteRemote technology has been around for 40 years (basic mail processing automation, like envelope stuffing and bar coding). What is new for elections is Diebold's automation of signature comparison.
- Diebold rep gave $10,000 to county GOP
- Voting-rights activist, Andy Stephenson 43, dies of cancer.
- Sproul got into a bit of trouble last fall when, in certain states, it came out that the firm was playing dirty tricks in order to suppress the Democratic vote: concealing their partisan agenda, tricking Democrats into registering as Republicans, surreptitiously re-registering Democrats and Independents as Republicans, and shredding Democratic registration forms.
- Calls for the U.S. government to require that electronic voting machines produce voter-verified paper trails ran into opposition from two members of a Senate committee during a hearing on e-voting last week. - There are two ways to defeat democracy, one way is by preventing citizens from voting, and the other is by preventing worthy candidates from appearing on the ballot.
- Who are these "vendors"? The vendors are the corporate face on our elections systems the for-profit companies that develop and sell the equipment used to run our elections. They are those who have the most to gain from the influence they buy through their donations and dues to the alphabet soup, and that influence is considerable. They include names like Diebold, Elections Systems and Software (ES&S), Sequoia Voting Systems, Hart InterCivic, Accenture, UniSys, Accupoll, and more.
- The controversy surrounding the voting machines remains extremely fierce in part because major manufacturers such as Diebold, ES&S, Triad, and others are controlled by partisan Republican companies with secret proprietary software. This unfortunate lack of transparency calls all U.S. elections into question.
- Witness after witness — Bay Area liberals seasoned with a few Libertarians and Republicans — called on state officials Thursday to block Diebold's voting machines from the nation's largest elections market, casting the firm as synonymous with lost trust and vote "theft" in the 2000 and 2004 elections.
- In less than a week, state officials are poised to approve a new Diebold electronic-voting system. But the system showed problems in security, protection of voter privacy and printing of a paper trail during testing this spring. State elections authorities have obscured the full nature of those problems by blacking out parts of test reports that have been released under the state Public Records Act and declaring other documents too full of Diebold "trade secrets" for public release.
- Asked to predict who would win in ’04, I said that, again, Bush would lose, but I was confident that in the four years between 2000 and 2004 creative propaganda and the fixing of election officials might very well be so perfected as to insure an official victory for Mr. Bush.
- Two new and startling discoveries announced by Bev Harris and BlackBoxVoting.org indicate that Diebold Optical Scan Machines are vulnerable to, and designed for, hacking that would modify the results of an election.
- For a week, Bret Schundler's campaign Web site showed the fiery Republican primary candidate in a suit with a crowd of cheering supporters behind him. The problem? They actually were rallying behind fiery Democratic candidate Howard Dean. - They made 65,000 votes disappear simply by changing the real memory card - which stores the numbers - for one that had been altered. And, while the software is supposed to create a record whenever someone makes changes to data stored in the system, it showed no evidence they'd managed to access and change information.
- "Are we having fun yet?" This is the message that appeared in the window of a county optical scan machine, startling Leon County Information Systems Officer Thomas James. Visibly shaken, he immediately turned the machine off.
- The National Election Data Archive (NEDA) today has released a new report, demonstrating that data from the Edison/Mitofsky analysis is consistent with the hypothesis of a corrupted vote count, and inconsistent with the competing idea that Bush voters were under-sampled in the poll.
- At 5:00 pm Eastern time on Election Day, I checked the sportsbook odds in Las Vegas and via the offshore bookmakers to see the odds as of that moment on the Presidential election. John Kerry was a two-to-one favorite. And he most certainly was, at least if the votes had been fairly and legally counted. What happened instead was the biggest crime in the history of the nation, and the collective media silence which has followed is the greatest fourth-estate failure ever on our soil.
- In the latest South Florida election mishap, workers in 35 percent of Miami-Dade County’s 749 polling places last November filed counts of voter signatures that differed from the number of ballots cast on the touch-screen voting machines, a new analysis has found.
- Few Americans know about the historic event that happened on January 6, 2005, the official date for counting electoral votes. For the first time since 1877, congress members challenged the electoral count. Massive fraud was reported around the country.
- America has a broken electoral system but the mainstream press says "Get over it".
- A gang of dark, ravenously greedy, willfully primitive souls have seized control of the U.S. government by illicit means in 2000 and maintained that control through rampant electoral corruption in 2004. The re-election of President Bush last November was a deliberately shambolic process that saw massive lockouts of opposition voters; unverifiable returns compiled by easily hackable machines operated by avowed corporate partisans of the ruling party; and vast discrepancies between exit polls and final results
- This story has a link to the video of Clint Curtis's statements about how he created a rigged voting machine prototype. These allegations were being investigated by Mr. Lemme when he was found "suicided" (a previous story listed here). You can watch the video. - The case of the mysterious suicide of Raymond Lemme of the Florida Inspector General's office was reopened by Valdosta, Georgia police. Last December computer programmer Clint Curtis made a a sworn affidavit charging that he had built a "vote-rigging software prototype" at the request of Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL)! Lemme was the first official from the FL Inspector General's office to investigate the charges originally made by Curtis.
- Officially, President Bush won November’s election by 2.5%, yet exit polls showed Kerry winning by 3%. - Demonstrators plan to protest Bush's inauguration. Nearly a dozen rallies and marches are planned in Washington along the Pennsylvania Avenue parade.
- Professor Steven Freeman, a statistician at the University of Pennsylvania, offers a disturbing answer. Looking at the exit polls and announced results in Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania, he concludes that the odds against such an accidental discrepancy in all three states together was 250 million to one. - Professor Steven F Freeman compiled an analysis entitled 'The Unexplained Exit Poll Discrepancy'. In all three of the key battleground states -- Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania -- Freeman's analysis states the odds of Kerry receiving the percentage of votes recorded, given the exit poll findings, are 250 million to one.
- One of the clear indicators of massive electoral fraud was the wide divergence, both nationally and in swing states, between exit poll results and the reported vote tallies. The major villains, it would seem, were the suppliers of touch-screen voting machine.
- There was something odd about the poll tapes. Election poll tapes in black garbage bags ready to be thrown away.
- Voting machines produced results in which the registered Democrat/Republican ratios largely matched the Kerry/Bush vote, however in Florida's counties using results from optically scanned paper ballots, the results seem to contain substantial anomalies.
- The American vote count system is controlled by four major corporate players, Diebold , ESS , Sequoia , and SAIC , Science Applications International. All four are hard-wired into the Bush power structure, the Bush crime family. - The election was stolen again in full view of the American public. The Republican owned voting machines prevailed over exit poll projections and the will of the American people. - Diebold’s current CEO Walden O’Dell is on record stating that he is “committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the President” this year. On September 26, 2003, he hosted an Ohio Republican Party fundraiser for Bush’s re-election at his Cotswold Manor mansion.
- It's not even Election Day yet, and the Kerry-Edwards campaign is already down by a almost a million votes. That's because, in important states like Ohio, Florida and New Mexico, voter names have been systematically removed from the rolls and absentee ballots .
