Libby will focus on issues relating to the war on terror and the future of Asia. He also will offer research guidance and will advise the institute in its strategic planning, the Hudson Institute said in a press release.

"Scooter Libby brings decades of experience to Hudson Institute that will strengthen our robust research efforts. We look forward to drawing on his expertise," said Hudson Institute Chairman Walter P. Stern.

The Hudson Institute is a conservative-leaning think tank, "dedicated to innovative research and analysis that promotes global security, prosperity, and freedom," it says.

"We challenge conventional thinking and help manage strategic transitions to the future," it said in a press release.

Libby was indicted in October on five counts stemming from the federal investigation into who leaked the identity of CIA agent Valerie Plame to the media.

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald alleges that Libby lied to FBI agents who interviewed him on two occasions; committed perjury while testifying under oath before the grand jury; and obstructed justice by impeding the grand jury's investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of Plame's identity.

Libby has pleaded not guilty and said he looks forward to clearing his good name. A trial date has not been set, but Libby's next court appearance is scheduled for early February.
